Who We Are?
THAAP is a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and promotion of Pakistan’s tangible and intangible heritage. We collaborate with researchers, artisans, communities, and institutions to document traditions, protect historic resources, and build awareness around cultural identity.
We are cultural heritage organization dedicated to preserving Pakistan’s history, architecture, arts, crafts, and languages through research, documentation, advocacy, and education.
A Knowledge-Led Mission
THAAP’s mission is to enhance and disseminate knowledge of Pakistan’s culture, art, and history through research, innovative projects, and scholarly practice. The protection and promotion of tangible and intangible heritage, cultural diversity, and historic consciousness form the foundation of its work.

Success Story
Canadian Ramgarhia Society has honored Professor Pervaiz Vandal and Professor Sajida Vandal, architects and educationists from Pakistan, with lifetime achievement awards for their research work in highlighting the architectural legacy of Bhai Ram Singh, one of pre-partition Punjab’s foremost architects.
Projects That Create Impact
THAAP has implemented and led projects across South Punjab, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other regions — focusing on heritage conservation, community empowerment, crafts, education, and cultural sustainability.
Conservation and Adaptive Reuse of Ghanta Ghar, Multan
In collaboration with the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) and the US Mission, THAAP is spearheading the restoration of Multan’s historic Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar).
Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Kalasha People
Since 2015, THAAP has worked in the three Kalasha valleys (Bumburet, Birir, and Rumbur) to safeguard their unique living traditions.
Empowerment of Women through Traditional Crafts
One of THAAP’s most successful large-scale initiatives, this project established 100 craft centers across four districts to support women in disaster-prone and marginalized areas.
Development of the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage
THAAP pioneered the first comprehensive, community-based methodology for mapping Pakistan’s Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). This database, developed in collaboration with UNESCO, has been adopted by the Government of Pakistan for nationwide use.
Publications & Knowledge
Through THAAP Publications, the group disseminates peer-reviewed research, books, journals, and conference proceedings, encouraging rigorous scholarship and original research.
